There are two types of canthoplasty -  Epicanthoplasty and  Lateral canthoplasty .
 

Canthoplasty gives you defined eyes and bright impression 

by widening length of eyes. This is usually done with double eyelid surgery to enhance the effect.
 

Epicanthoplasty

 
About 60%of Asians has Mongolian fold, 

it is a fold from medial upper eyelid to lower eyelid

It covers medial part of the eyes and this makes eyes look small.
 

By removing this mongolian fold you can have a bigger eyes.

 

 If you have Mongolian fold but undergo double 

eyelid surgery without epicanthoplasty

the result can be unnatural and less effective 

Lateral canthoplasty 

This surgery invovlve widening length of eyes. This makes balanced eyes

by correcting the lateral part

Some people might say that lateral canthoplasty is not permanent
